A tattoo ain’t tat bad...as I can attest to it from experience.

Unless you're going for a full sleeve, it’s not gonna hurt heaps.
And it varies from one individual to another.
I've seen a 17 year old squeal like a banshee for a tiny lower back butterfly.

Before I did one on my calf, the artist who had one herself told me it hurts like crap.
But to my surprise, I enjoyed the sensation so much that I told her to drill harder.
It’s the healing process which hurts the most, because it bloody itches so bad at night that u can’t sleep at all. And you have to smack it so hard to get rid of the itch temporarily of course.

But of course, it all depends on the individual’s pain tolerance.

You should give it profound consideration before deciding on one. It’s a lifetime commitment if not for laser removal which would cost a lot more than the original cost of inking one.

As for the colour selection depending on your piece of artwork, stay away from bright colours such as yellow and orange as they have a tendency to fade sooner when exposed to sunlight.
From experience, yellow and orange doesn’t go well with Asian skin due to the yellow skin tone.
Red is awesome and so is blue and green, solid colours. Purple is pretty cool as well.

The location of your artwork is extremely important.
Location: Avoid areas on your body which would be subjected to frequent stretching
I.E: tummy area, joints and of course conspicuous areas which would hinder employment

You will require a few touch-up sessions with your artist. Though this very much depends on the finesse of your would be artist.
During the micro implantation of the pigments, the level of penetration is very likely to be uneven.
Ultimately, do not rush and take your time to decide.
And do note that the tattoo machine was pioneered by Thomas Edison.

it hurts less on your calf because theres alot of meat there. your lower back is very near to your vertebrae which of course will hurt like a bitch. as for painting toe nails, keep it one color la. too much color makes one very ah lian la. :)

Yea I know the lower back and the calf is painful. Painting a flag on the toenail is a once a year thingy. I keep my nail colors to the very minimum. Used to have M&Ms toenails when I was younger.
